Family Update

Hey everyone. Sorry it's been awhile since my last post. So much as been going on lately. Daddy had his wisdom teeth removed on April 27th and we did all we could to make him feel better fast. Grandma Belter has pulled a ligament in her hand and has to have surgery tomorrow (May 15th). We hope everyone can keep her in thier prayers. Olivia gave us a little scare on Mother's Day. As a little background, Olivia was staying the night at Grandma Belter's house on Saturday night so that Dan and I could have a "date night". Olivia was running a low grade fever during the day Saturday, but we really thought it was her teeth because she was also a drool bucket and she was chewing on her fingers. But......we were wrong!! Grandma called us at around 5:30 saying that we needed to come get her because she was breathing heavy and had a fever of 105!!! Dan and I threw on our clothes, picked her up and took her to the Emergency Room in Pontiac because it was only 15 minutes away compared to Bromenn (the hospital we usually use), which was 45 minutes away. After many tests, and a catheter (poor baby), the Doctor said that he thought it was a viral infection called Roseola. He was glad that we brought her in quickly because with such a rapid increase in her temperature she may have had a febrile seizure. Needless to say, Dan and I were quite scared, but we managed to stay as calm as we could in front of Olivia. I really had to hold back the tears when it took two nurses and the doctor to get the catheter in. Well...Olivia had a rotation of Ibuprofen and Tylenol every three hours yesterday and her temperature stayed down. We gave her more once during the night and at 7am she didn't have a fever. However at 8:45am it went back up a little to 100. I am quite tired but hanging in there. I plan on staying home with her today and tomorrow and Dan will stay with her on Wednesday (so Grandma Belter can get some rest after her surgery). With all the medical co-pays adding up I'm going to have to get a second job at the McDonald's (ha-ha). As I stated in my Mother's Day card to my mom, I now realize just how hard it can be at times to be a mom, and that I still need my own mommy from time to time.
Well, I guess I should wrap up this novel. It's been very therapeutic to write this out while Olivia is taking her nap. I must remember how blessed Dan and I truly are. We have a loving marriage and despite Olivia's recent illness she always bounces back to her high energy, silly self. The pictures posted above are from her 1 year photos and a couple from home. P.S. another great big thank you to Aunt Amy, Uncle Eric and Nathaniel for Olivia's sandbox. She points to outside all the time because she wants to go play in it.

You poor thing! And sweet Olivia, I am so relieved to hear that she is starting to do better. That sounds like it must have been so scary. I teared up just reading up you having to hold it together at the hospital and during the catheter..that would have been so hard to see your baby going through. I'm glad you're all doing okay. Please call me if you need anything!! And try to get some rest before you go back to work.
